Make Your Home Standout Amongst The Competition!

With just a few simple tips, you can sell your home faster than the competition.

As you prepare to put your house on the market, you first need to assess the home’s exterior. Curb appeal is big! You want to entice   your buyer to come inside and see more of the home.  Be sure to keep your lawn manicured and landscaped. Trim the bushes, put    down mulch or pinestraw, edge the planting beds, and plant some seasonal flowers.  Your front door area should be welcoming. Sweep the porch, wipe down the front door, remove any cobwebs and put out some bright colored flowers in an attractive container by the door.

Inside, your key rooms to pay attention to are the bathrooms and kitchen. Make they are bright and fresh. Be sure they are odor free. Check out Bath and Body Works plug-ins for some wonderful smells! Add a fresh coat of paint if needed. Fix any leaky faucets! And put away all large appliances (i.e mixers, toasters).

Make each room as spacious as possible. This definitely will help sell your home faster! Remove large pieces of furniture. Remove the clutter and any personal pictures. You want the buyer to see themselves in the home and not your family.  Do not store these items in your basement or attic as you want those spaces  to look large as well.  An investment in a storage unit will pay off. Don’t have the cash to pay a storage facility? Then ask a friend or neighbor is you can store your items in their basement for a while.

Be sure all windows, walls and doors are smudge free.

Final suggestions for a showing and to sell your home faster:

  1. Clear counters
  2. Turn on ALL lights
  3. Open all curtains and blinds
  4. Take your pets with you or to a neighbors
  5. Do NOT leave dirty dishes in sink or laundry in washer/dryer
  6. Put on some peaceful music
  7. Turn on fireplace if its cold out
  8. Quickly vacuum on your way out the door
  9. Don’t have time to put away dishes, laundry or that clutter? Have handy a large laundry basket or box to throw those pieces of clutter, laundry, dishes in and take it with you!

Smith Plantation House -  In 1838, the Smith family left St. Marys along the southern coast of Georgia, to make a new start with some 300 acres of cotton farmland north of the Roswell Town Square. Over 150 years, the Smith’s Plantation Home has stood the test of time. Surviving The Civil War, the small village of Roswell grew into a bustling metropolitan suburb.  Perfectly preserved are the Smiths two-story farm house, complete with slave quarters, a cook house, corn crib, barn, carriage house, well, and spring house.

Bulloch Hall – Constructed for James Stephens Bulloch and his wife Martha Stewart Elliott Bulloch. Major Bulloch died of a heart attack in 1849 leaving Mrs. Bulloch to raise their family alone and maintain Bulloch Hall. Mittie, their second daughter, became mother of President Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, and grandmother of Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady from 1934-1945.
